Submit an Article

Pitch original legal analysis, commentary, case notes, reviews, debates or responses.

A strong proposal identifies a precise legal argument, explains why it matters now and names the principal authorities on which it will rely.

1

State the proposition

Tell us what you will argue, not only the field you want to discuss.

2

Show significance

Explain the doctrinal, institutional or public consequence.

3

Name the authority

Identify the key judgments, legislation, data or official materials.

4

Disclose interests

State relevant roles, representation, funding and simultaneous submission.

Before sending

  • Read the Author Guidelines and Publication Standards.
  • Do not include privileged, confidential or unlawfully obtained material.
  • Do not submit unsupported allegations about identifiable people.
  • Explain whether the proposal is time-sensitive.
  • Use a professional email address and accurate affiliation.

What happens after submission

An editor assesses fit, originality, authority and risk. A request for a manuscript is not a commitment to publish. Accepted work may undergo substantial editing, source checking and legal review.

Submission categories

You may pitch an original article, completed case note, response, review, debate proposal or symposium. A pitch is preferred for time-sensitive or substantial work because it allows the editor to confirm fit before the author invests in a complete manuscript.

Information the form creates

The submission record may include your contact details, affiliation, proposal, declared interests, relevant links and delivery information. It is stored privately for editorial administration. Do not submit privileged documents, client files, identity documents or personal data unrelated to the proposal.

Editorial communication

An automated receipt confirms technical delivery, not editorial acceptance. The journal may request clarification, decline without detailed review, invite a draft or retain the proposal for a defined commissioning period. Where a deadline is critical, state the exact date and reason; do not assume silence means acceptance.

Submission questions

May I send the same pitch elsewhere?

Yes unless exclusivity has been agreed, but disclose simultaneous submission and notify the editor immediately if another publication accepts it.

Can I attach a manuscript?

Use only the file types and method stated by the form or requested by an editor. Links to secure files may be preferable for large or sensitive working material.

Will every pitch receive individual feedback?

Not necessarily. Editorial capacity may limit detailed responses, particularly for work outside scope or below the publication threshold.

Explain the legal claim, supporting authorities and proposed structure. Do not submit confidential client information.

List judgments, statutes, official records or reliable materials that will support the argument.
